The Companion Animal Decoder™
Understanding comes first.
Behavior follows.
We're an experienced, science-based dog training and behavior practice. We don't drill obedience—we decode the conversation between you and your companion animal and teach adaptability, so lasting change grows from genuine understanding.
For everyday training questions and common challenges. The In-Home Discovery does not include an assessment or treatment plan for aggression or significant reactivity, including lunging, snapping, or bite-related concerns. Please contact Respectful Communications Animal Training LLC before booking if your dog exhibits these behaviors.

Behavior is a language. We help you learn to read it — patiently, compassionately, and with the science to back every step.
Decode. Understand. Connect.

Our Approach
Not obedience.
Understanding.
Most training asks the dog to comply. We don't want to be your dog's handler, and we don't think you want to do that for the rest of your life either. We start somewhere different—with why.
Every behavior is information: a need, a fear, a question your companion animal is asking. When you can read that language clearly and give the animal in front of you the opportunity to choose the right behavior without pressure, the behaviors you want arrive naturally—and the ones you don't begin to dissolve.
This is experienced, professional behavior work—grounded in learning science, delivered with patience, and tailored to the real life you share with your dog. Most behavior happens at home, on walks, and around the people and triggers in your daily life, so that's exactly where we work—one-to-one, in your home.

Training Outcomes
We train for adaptability, not just obedience
Dogs don't live in one perfectly controlled environment. They encounter new people, places, distractions, routines, and situations every day. Training should help them understand, adjust, and use their skills in the real world — not just perform a behavior in the place where they learned it.
When a dog genuinely understands what's being asked, skills generalize beyond the original training setting. They learn to cope with new situations, adjust to changing environments, and keep making good choices when circumstances change. That's the difference between a rehearsed response and a truly adaptable companion.
- Understand what's being asked
- Use skills in real-life situations
- Adjust to changing environments
- Cope with new situations
- Generalize skills beyond training
- Keep making good choices
